Sightseeing Escapades In Pamplona By Scott Graves at 2013-02-19 05:02:41

The town of Pamplona is one of the most famous not only in Spain but all over the world. There are a lot of attractions in this region and all are rewarding to people who settle for the area for touristic ventures. The traditions, culture and folklore found in the area is something to reckon with. The town is totally medieval and really adaptive by still keeping in touch with the modernity of the new times. Pamplona has in a way proved that modernity can be beautifully merged with the ancient things that are common in this region.
There are town walls that are standing since the 16th century and to date are great enclosures of the urbanisation in the area. There are some very great park areas as well as monuments that are quite old and some very wide avenues found in the area.
The first attraction as expected is related to bull fights and it is the great Plaza de Toros. This is actually a bull ring that is very close to the walls of the town. It is also near the river Argar. The tradition of bull fighting has made Pamplona a very popular place and an important one at that. During san Fermines, the region is a hub for visitors who come to witness the very best in bullfighting. The Hemingway book also revolves around this place.
Before 1893, bullfights were held in plaza de Castillo. In the present day however, the place is perfect for the many cafeterias that are found all over. This is considered the town’s heart and in a way you will feel like the great Hemmingway.
There is also a cathedral that is a gothic kind located here. It is the work of Ventura Rodriguez and is a very important building of a religious nature in all of Spain. The Claustrum is valuable. The central nave area has King’s Mausoleum that was erected in the year 1415. The 15th century alter is totally outstanding and so is the Barbanza chapel. There is a museum here that will tell you tales of days gone and will give you a great opportunity to explore and enjoy the region.
Pamplona also has some awesome parks especially close to the river. The town wall towers as well as the Santa Maria plaza are totally amazing areas. If you happen to follow the walls, you will be able to see some of the doors as well as a park called santa Domingo. The town hall is not far from here. The archives of the town as well as the museum Sarrasate are major highlights.
